Parched (Review)

This movie spreads light on the life of a four women named Rani,Lajjo,Janki and Bijli who lives in a desert village. Their desire for freedom from traditional custom that locks their personality identity and womenhood. They lack their dignity and respect in the long-time practice of patriarchial traditions of their village .This movie reveals the life of a four women who are suffocated by the patriarchial customs. They all come across different situations and that change their life and dreams .

The widowed Rani suffers through her teenage son's rude attitude towards the village girl. while at the same time she goes in to dept because of the marriage of her son . Rani's spirited best friend Lajjo works to support her never do well cruel husband who rewards her with beating because she has not been able to get pregnant.The exotic dancer Bijli makes ends meet by resorting to prostitution .Janaki who gets married at her teenage and faced so many problems from the husband's house because they believe that she dishonouring the village. Finally these women's are empowered by their ability and they know that how they are strong enough without the support of men. This movie is blessed by the music ana Awards .
